Q.

Sitting up

Hi My baby boy will be 8 months in 2 weeks time and he still can''t sit up yet. He was not premature or anything so I find this a bit odd and worrying. Is this normal?? My daughter was sitting up at 5 months. He can roll over but when I try to sit him up he just pushes himself back onto his back. Could you please give me any advice?

Unfortunately you do not mention just how premature your son was because this is very important when it comes to important milestones like sitting. Most babies will sit by about 6 months but many only start at 7 months.8 months is rather delayed especially as he shows no signs that he will be starting to sit soon, but we really need to correct his age for his prematurity. You are welcome to write to me again with the information about how premature your baby son was at birth.

Hi there is a bit of a misunderstanding. My son was not premature at all, that is why I am worried. He was born by ceaser at 38 weeks so he should be sitting by now. He will be 8 months on the 7th of December and cannot sit up by himself. He can sit in a high chair without falling over but when you take him out he just falls over. Do I need to be concerned?
