Q.

Simptoms

Good day
My child 7 years.(girl) The following symptoms presents:
Fever spikes to 40 degree celsius
Stiff neck and back (better now)
dizziness
Swollen glands (neck and under arms and groints)
Sleeping alot.
Nausea (better)
Coughing (wet)
She had a course of antibiotika for 3 days.(they said it is a throat infection tonsils are removed more than a year ago) The fever persists. Took her back to the hospital, said she have a chest infection and give again atibiotics (Zinnat 125mg two times per day).
I am very worried about my child and it feels like the doctors don''t realy care. They just gave antibiotics and don''t test for sensitivity for antibiotics or find the origan of the infection or what cause the infection.
Please help, we live in a small town far from any specialists.
Regards
Christa

This sounds like an illness called glandular fever, but it is extremely important to make sure that she does not have meningitis.I cannot imagine why with symptoms of a stiff neck she was not tested for meningitis already. You should take your daughter to an emergency after hours clinic in the nearest big town or city with a good hospital. Please take her there now even if you have to drive her there tonight.
