Should I be worried?

I would like you opinion on my situation please: my son only started crawling at 12 months and walking at 16 months. He is now 2 and a half years and is now only saying one or two words toghether and in " baby language" . Most of my friends'' children (of the same age) crawled and walked at early ages and most of them are now talking in sentences. Should I be worried about my son''s development?

Although your son's milestones were rather later than is usual, they are still within the acceptable time periods for infant developmental milestones. His speech development is definitely delayed, but again some little boys in particular are rather slow to start talking, but once they start there is no stopping them. However I think that taking these three developmental milestones together, all being delayed, it would be safest to ask your paediatrician to do a developmental assessment on your son or to refer you to an expert in your area.
