Q.

She doest want to eat

Hi

My neice is 21 months old. Her mother breastfeeds her at night only. During the day she would basically only eat a tablespoon of rice, sometimes fish, egg or brocoli. She refuses everything else even fruit. Since they have a creche at home she is always getting sick with a runny nose, era infection, tonsils or cough and always going on antibiotics.

The doctor has given her iron drops and some vitamin syrp. However, there is no improvemnt in her eating habits. What else can we do to let her eat.

Thank You

Many children of this age are poor eaters. It is a stage that they go through. Do not try to force her to eat and keep mealtimes happy and very peaceful. She must eat with the family. Don't keep watching her. Put her food in front of her and don't say a word or make a fuss if she does'nt eat. She will watch the other members of the family eating and will learn to eat in this way.It may take some time. but she will start eating by herself. There are no tonics that will increase her appetite.
