Hi Dr
I posted last year about my son having to have a circumcision. He was ten months when the procedure done. I was quite surprised at how quickly he healed and did not seem to show any signs of discomfort or pain. I did not even use the pain medication that was given as he was playing, eating and sleeping as though nothing had happened. My concern comes in now, I am not happy with the scar. The urologist was very happy with the follow up appointment but months later I find the scar to be too big. When the penis is flacid everthing looks perfect and circumcision looks right but when his penis is erect I can see the scar and it is about 1.5mm wide and the head of the penis bulges out quite abit. My husband says this is normal and it looks fine but I am concerned that the scar is going to get bigger and wider as the penis grows. Is this what normally happens?
Another question. In the last few weeks my son does not want me to touch his penis and testicles at nappy changes. It is fine for me to wash him in the bath but when I need to clean him after a bad nappy he gets cross when I try and clean the testes. Could it be sore for him? He is not yet two and I don' t think he is ready for the potty.

The circumcision scar will get smaller with time and will not cause any problems later on.
Your son's behaviour when you try to wash him is very common. Just go along with him and give him a good wash when he is in the bath.
