Q.

Salmonella

My LO is 18 months old and has had diarrhoea for over 2 weeks, no unhappiness or fever and drank fluids (Isomil &  apple juice) without a problem. I took her to the Dr as i was concerned and he did a stool sample. The test came back positive for Salmonella Enderitidis. What is the treatment for this and how long will she have the diarrhoea ??

Salmonella can cause a nasty form of gasto with severe diarrhoea. The usual source is through food contamination especially fro undercooked eggs or poultry. There is usually no need to give antibiotics as in most cases the illness clears up by itself although it is essential to give extra fluids and electrolytes such as Rehidrat if the diarrhoea is bad.
