Runny Nose

Hi Dr,

Thank you for your great advice you gave me the other day regarding my little boy''s cold. He is doing much better, and his nose and chest seems to be clearing up nicely. You mentioned that I should not be giving him Demazin syrup as he is under 2 years, if I may ask why is this?

Once again, thanks for your advice. I have found this forum really helpful especially being a 1st time Mom.

You are very welcome.Demazin syrup contains an oral decongestant medicine called phenylephrine HCl which has a stimulant effect on young children and is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.It also contains an old fashioned antihistamine called chlorpheniramine maleate which causes sedation.
