Runny Nose

I have a 3 year old daughter, and since about mid last year she was getting sick a lot with upper respiratory tract infections. Even if she wasn''t sick she still had a runny nose, clear, but constantly running. About a month ago she went for tonsils, adenoids, grommets and a sinus flush, and she hasn''t had a fever since then, but her nose is still running. Over the past few months we''ve tried various nasal sprays that were prescribed by the paediatrician, but still no luck. At the moment I''m not using anything in her nose, hoping it will go away, but it is not going away. What can we do to help her?

It is very likely that your daughter has a nasal allergy problem known as allergic rhinitis which has not been diagnosed. She should be seen by a paediatrician with expertise in paediatric allergy so that she can be properly tested and then correctly treated. There are paediatric allergists in all the main centres in SA.
