Running tummy

Hi Doc

My 7 month old daughter has a running tummy since Thursday last week. The GP prescribed reuteri drops to be used for a few days.

I have heard that some mothers give their babies these drops on a regular (sometimes permanent) basis, even when they are perfectly healthy? Is this a good thing, or should the drops only be used to treat an illness when it occurs?

Thank you.

In children who have had an infection especially diarrhoea recently,a probiotic is a good idea. It is not necessary to give the Reuteri drops for more than 10 days.
