Run down

Hi Professor,

My 3 year old son seems to be run down. He has Epilepsy, which we are busy treating. He has a cough, which we treat with Nasonex nose spray and Benylin. He had a rash on his stomach, which we used Mylocort on and now he seems to have mosquito type bites on his legs, which we also use Mylocort on. He has diarrhoea which we are using Koastatex. He has no temperature. We give him Viral Guard chewy tablets that have probiotics in.

Am I missing something? Are all these symptoms an illness that I don''t know of?

Thank you

This is indeed an excellent question. You have grouped your son's symptoms together and asked yourself if there is not a single illness that could be causing all of his problems. Yes there are illnesses which should be considered with your son including Asthma and allergies, possibleTB or cystic fibrosis or coeliac disease and lastly a rare inborn immune condition called chronic granulomatous disease. He should be seen and examined by a paediatrician.
