RSV (bronchiolitus)

My daughter was diagnosed with RSV two weeks ago, was prescribed singulair sprinkles, avamys nasal spray and Cortesone syrup, Aspelone which are all finished except the nasal spray(i try not to use it that often) She will be turning one tomorrow. I took her to the er on friday with a 39.4 fever as i was worried it has developed into pneumonia which luckily was not the case.

Dr did say that she is chesty and prescribed and antibiotic - (klacid, if i remeber correct) which i know wouldn''t help, so i did not use it.

Now my question is, deep in my heart I feel she is having Allergies as she has struggled with a runny but very congested nose prior to rsv, i have a baby vac which helps but the congestion seems so deep inside, the chestiness doesn''t seem to bother her one bit as she eats and drinks normally. Is there something over the counter which i can try that may help. What are your suggestions?

You are probably correct and your baby may well be allergic, but a few days ago she had a very high fever and this particular illness is very probably due to RSV infection.Whether her nose is blocked due to allergies or to infection now that she is a bit better, you still need to use the same treatment to clear her nose. Use a Sterimar baby nasal spray twice daily.Use the Baby-Vac suction device to clear her nose just before you use the Sterimar spray.
Once she is over this illness take her to see your paediatrician so that she can be tested to find out if she is indeed allergic and whether her blocked nose is due to allergic rhinitis.
