Q.

Rotavirus Vaccine

HI!

My son is 3 and a half months old and ten days ago received his second dose of the Rotavirus vaccine. We anticipated that for the first few days he would be niggly but this has persisted and we are now on day 10. He doesn' t have a fever, but he has diarrhoea and is not feeding well during the day. He has not lost any weight but he also hasn' t gained any in ten days. Is this normal? When can I expect the diarrhoea to abate? I am quite concerned. Thank you.

Your baby seems to have reacted adversely to this vaccine and has developed diarrhoea. As he is not gaining weight I am concerned that he may be becoming dehydrated. Please take him back to your paediatrician to be seen.
