Q.

Ritalin

Dear Dr. My 10year old daughter started on 20mg Ritalin20mg LA, she weighs 31kg height 1.4m. She is not hyperactive, just struggles to focus, very intelligent but gets board easily. Time will tell us if this medication works. Today went well, I could not pick up any negative effects so far. She seems very focused. How long would she be able to stay on 20mg? How long would she be able to focus on the 20mg please? Thank you, kind regards

It seems to me that your daughter should not be on Ritalin at all. She appears to be a very clever young girl who easily becomes bored in class because she is ahead of the class and constantly has to wait for the rest of the class to carch up to her. She should be in a school where the classes are small and the teacher has the chance to focus on each child in the class.
