Q.

Restless at night - 3 yr old - not sleeping

My 3yr old LG has been a terrible sleeper since birth. Some of the forum ladies probably know me by now, but I need to get to an answer now. My LG battles to go to sleep at night (which eventually adds up to her sleeping on the couch and we have to carry her to bed). But my problem is that she still wakes up at night. She is a very light sleeper and it looks like her brain does not want to switch off. Why can she not get to rest? It worries me that a LG of 3 yr old does not get the sleep she needs.

Hi KB,

I also struggled to get my 3 year old to sleep, he is doing much better now, only waking about twice a night. Some things that I look for that might help you:

Check that the nappy is not wet
Make sure he has eaten well
Leave a night light on
No TV before bedtime as he has nightmares
Leave the bedroom door open so he hears our voices
Do not dress him too warmly

Good luck!
