Repost 459 - possible nystagmus

Dear Doc

Thank you for your reply about my son''s eye rolling. I googled nystagmus as well as eye tics and from what is available on line it does not seem like nystagmus to me.(I am not medically trained, this is just an observation from what I saw) His eyes dont jerk at all. In fact it looked a lot like a tic.My son does have ADHD, but mostly battles with the hyper active/impulsive symptoms. He does extremely well in school and we decided NOT to medicate him. As he is getting older now, the hyperactivity is getting better.

As I said previosly, he is a very healthy boy who is not taking any medication other then panado for occasional headaches.

Some months ago he bumpd his head very hard - in the occupital area and the hair at the back of his head where the egg was fell out and has not regrown. He did not present with any other worrying symptoms (fopr head injuries at the time) so we never took him for a medical assessment.

Today the rolling was less - but not absent. Based on any of this new information - do you still think an opthamologist is the first dr to consult? Is time an issue - we may have to wait several weeks to get an appointment.

Thank you again for your advise

With this new information a habit tic is definitely more likely, so he can be seen by an optician first. If necessary the optician will refer your son.
