Reflux and Gaviscon

My 7 week old baby boy suffers from reflux. Our Pead told us to give him 0.5mil adult Gaviscon four times a day. This has help with the problem immensely but it seems that every six hours is not enough. He feeds every 4 hours and after he feeds he seems to have reflux and this goes on for 1 to 2 hours or untill we give him Gaviscon. We have been giving him 0.5ml Gaviscon when he starts to complain, about every 4 hours, and as soon as he has it he quiets down and sleeps.

Can we continue with the Gaviscon as we are using or should we be using something els? And also how much Gaviscon can a baby handle before it can have side effects?

You cannot give the Gaviscon more often than you are doing.Gaviscon helps your baby a lot but he is still having too much discomfort from acid reflux. It will be necessary for your baby to go onto a stomach acid reducing medicine such as Losec. Speak to your paediatrician.
