Q.

?Reflux

My 7 week old nephew has had slight pyrexia and has been trying to vomit his milk. He is currently on Novalac AR, still gaining wt well , at 6 week immunisations weighed 4.5kg (birth wt 2.4). What could be the problem, would you recommend he visit his paed? He also cries incessantly and is very restless towards the evenings - could it be colic or a reflux problem?

Paediatrician

This does sound like an acid reflux problem. The acid stomach contents which are being refluxed into the lower oesophagus are causing discomfort to your baby nephew. He should be seen by a paediatrician and put on a medicine to stop stomach acid for a while. The usual medicine is called Losec.
