REFER 839 PLEASE HELP

HI PLEASE REFER TO POST 839 - ON THURSDAY MY BABY GOT A RASH AGAIN THIS TIME MUCH WORST HIS CHEECKS GOT VERY RED AND HOT ( HE DIDN' T HAVE A FEVER ) JUST THE HOT CHEEKS AND WITH RED DOTS ALL OVER HIS FACE AND BODY. TOOK HIM TO THE PEDIATRICIAN ON FRIDAY HE SAID IT' S JUST THE WAY HIS BODY IS MAKING ANTIBODIES TO FIGHT THE VIRAL ILLNESS. ... GAVE HIM KORTISONE CREAM 1% FOR HIS FACE TWICE A DAY AND SAID BY MONDAY IT WILL BE GONE. BUT IT' S NOT GONE YET AND IT LOOKS BAD! HE SAID THAT HE DOESN' T THINK HE IS ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING BUT I AM STARTING TO WONDER.... I DON' T UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE ANTIBODIES THING???? PLEASE HELP.. HIS NOSE ALSO STARTED RUNNING YESTERDAY.

I think your baby has an illness called 'Slapped cheek syndrome' or Fifth Disease which is a viral illness caused by the virus Parvovirus B19. It lasts a few days then goes away by itself. There is no need to use any ointments.

In the freestate. Filled in forms for medical aid last week. Can you get lactose intolerant later in life ( i mean why did it take him 6 months????) I just don' t get the pediatricians'  argument???? Is there other signs???

Hi Rici, in what province are you in. Why don' t you take your baby to the emergency rooms at a hospital, do you have medical aid. It could affect the baby in the long run, so better be safe then sorry. My daughter hqd a rash on her bumb and it was not nappy rash, when i took her to hospital, they immediately booked her in for test and we found out she was lactose intolerant and that had an effect on her urine and stools
