Q.

Red teary eyes for my 8 month

Hi there,

My child has red teary eyes, his fever was a bit high but now has cooled down. They gave me ointment at the pharmacy but I don''t think it''s working. Should I take him to a doctor and what could the problem be? could it be teething?

If your baby has a cold and he has red eyes as well, he may have a virus infection of his eyes. Gently wipe his eyes with a small eyepad or cotton wool dipped in dilute salt water. Make up a solution with a quarter teaspoonful of salt in a cup of boiled and cooled water. Wipe his eyes at least twice a day using the dilute salt water. If his eyes do not clear up after 3 or 4 days you should ask your doctor to see your baby.
