Q.

Red, swollen arm

Hi doc, my 19 month old girl had a stroke in hospital at 6 months old, both sides of her brain but bigger on right side. So left side of arm &  leg is more affected. For the last 2 weeks I have noticed that her arm on left side is red and swollen and she keeps it drawn up. She sometimes allows me to move it and do her excersises but other times she does not want me touching that arm. What could it be and do I go to a docter with this. Normal GP or Pediatrician? Her Phisio does not seem to know why this is. Please advise and thanks.

Paediatrician

There appears to be an abscess or an inflammation of the bone called osteitis developing in your daughter's left arm. Please take her to be seen by a paedoitrian. It would really be best to take her to be seen at a paediatric after hours clinic.
