Q.

Red, itchy &  swollen eyelids

Good morning,

My little boy is 10 months old. Sometimes his eyelids appear red &  swollen. He then constantly rubs them &  this produces dry flaky skin on his eyelids. He has a mild case of ecezma but has not been on any treatment for the past 5 months.

Is his eyelids swollen &  itchy due to an allergy?

Thank you.

Yes it does appear that your baby son's swollen and itchy eyelids is due to an allergy. He may have an eye allergy which causes the itching in the first place or this may be due to eczema of his eyelids. He already has mild eczema and this probably means that he is an allergic baby.It is very difficult to treat eye allergy in such a young baby.It would be best to take him to be seen by a paediatric allergist so that he can be properly tested for allergies and given the correct tretament.
