Red eye

Dear Doc - another question about my other son
He is 9.5 years old. About 10 days ago, I notices the outer corner of his one eye was very red. (the inside white of the eye). He was unaware of it. It did not get any better and this morning I see his whole one eye is very red. It is not itchy or burning or discharging at all. Just red. What could it be and what do you recommend for treatment?

It is difficult to be sure about your son's eye without being able to examine his eye.It is possible that he has a virus eye infection called 'pink eye' which is caused by an adenovirus infectin. Another possibility is that he may have go something in his eye such as a small splinter. It really would be best to ask your doctor to see him just to be on the safe side and especially with a long weekened coming up.
