recurring ringworms

hi Doc
a few months ago after moving into a new house my 4yr old son developed a ringworm on his head, i got him candizole cream which didnt work, the DR prescribed some tablets which worked. but a week later the ringworm came back on the same area, i used travocort and it went away but came back on a different spot but still on the head. right now he has 2 of them on the head but they are not getting big because im using travocort on them. i am also experiencing the same thing on my leg. after a week or two of stopping using travocort the ringworm comes back on the same spot. could there be something wrong with the house? the water? what can we do to get rid of them for good? please advice. thanks

Your son has a very common problem seen in young children. He has a persistent fungal infection of his scalp called 'tinea capitis'. It is no use trying to treat this scalp infection with creams and ointments. The only way to treat it is for your son to take GRISEOFULVIN tablets or liquid 250mg ONCE daily FOR 6 WEEKS. Your doctor should give your son a prescription.
