Q.

recurrent gastro?

hi
my son who is almost 2 had mild gastro over a month ago. it was just the stomach cramps, no runny tummy or vomitting. i contracted it from him a few days after. my question is since then he has been miserable on and off and not sleeping at night and i have since had it again 3 times so i am wondering if this is the cause for his misery. he was on anti biotics the first time around to clear it but i havent taken him back to the dr. i was not on anti biotics. is it possible he is getting recurrent gastro and how do i treat it? should i take him back to the dr? his stools have also been hard on and off for a while although he is going daily. thanks!

Your son may have picked up a bacterial infection which caused his episodes of diarrhoea.Salmonella infection would fit the picture you describe here. It would be a good idea to ask his doctor to test one of your son's stools to find out if he has a bacterial cause for his recurrent gastro.
