Childhood Diseases

My son is 26 mths old, he is about 79-80 cm tall and weighs about 11.5 kg. He is quite a bit smaller than other kids his age. He is a very happy little boy, his speech is coming along nicely and although later than other kids, achieved all his milestones. He is a very fussy eater but seems to be improving as he gets older and does not look thin- I am just concerned that he doesn' t seem to grow as fast as other kids his age - he still fits comfortably into 12 - 18 mths cloths- we aren' t really short people in our family. Should there be a cause for concern or am i just being paranoid?

The average weight for a boy of 26 month is 13kg and the height is 89cm. Your son's weight is in the lowest 10% for his age group and his length is really a cause for concern. His height is below the lowest line on the children's growth charts. Please ask your paediatrician to see him.
