RE: Post 1990- dairy free diet

Dr, sorry to bother you regarding this matter-again....After I read your answer to try and give my toddler milk again the mucus and coughing started again....He didn' t have any sign of this mucus running down the back of his throat for the past week that I had him on the ricemilk...I gave him some of his NAN lactose free milk twice yesterday again and 5-10 minutes after drinking it I could hear the mucus and little loose coughs again...I also had him at a dermatologist yesterday because he developed bad atopic eczema on his shoulder...(he also suffers from asthma and rhinitis) .What I want to know is: Ok, maybe he is not allergic to something in the formula, but could he be intollerent of it? Must I still carry on using it if he is just intollerent and not allergic? Thanx for listening again....

You are using the incorrect formula for a baby who is allergic to cow's milk. You are using a lactose free formula which is for babies who have lactose intolerance which is a problem with digesting milk.Your son sould either be on NAN HA2 or preferably on a soya formula with all dairy removed from his diet. The fact that he has eczema suggests that he is allergic to cow's milk.
