Re: Pneumonia treatment

Dear Prof

We got the results of the culture back, and the Str pneu and H Infl are both sensitive to the Zinnat. We also had the chest x-ray done and this is what the reoprt said:
" There is less blurring of the right heart border indicating resolution of the air space consolidative
changes in the right mid lobe. There is however remaining streaky opacification bilateral perihilar,
radiating into the lower lobes. There is also now hyperinflation of the chest. ?Bronchiolitis"
I have not spoken to our paed, but he emailed to say there is a lot of improvement in the right mid lobe?
Could this be a second chest infection unrelated to the lobar pneumonia?

It does appear that your son is now getting better, but it is certainly taking a long time.Your son should have chest physiotherapy to help to clear his lungs. It is unlikely that he has a second chest infection.
