re : chloral hydrate sedation for flight

Hi there, I' m a physician and have access to medication.
Me and my family are going on an overseas (london) flight with out 1yr 3mo daughter who is currently teething (badly)
My question : what would you use as a sedative.
I have considered codeine syroups / tilidine and now chloral hydrate...... which would you say is most effective/safe.

None of the above. Most sedatives have the opposite effect than what is expected in this age group and cause the child to be extremely hyped up.Give her something for pain such as Calpol and apply Pansoral gel to her gums. Keep her nose clear by useing Salex nose drops before the take off and during the landing and let her suck on her bottle during the whole landing period.
