Q.

Rash/pimpel-like on face of 8 year old boy

Hi doc,

my son of 8 has a small rash like little pimples. (no yellow bits though). It is becoming worse by the day, and it is starting to worry me a bit now. could it be his eating habits, or some sort of defeciency?
Thank you

It is difficult to diagnose a skin rash without being able to see the rash. What is unusual is that your 8 year old son should suddenly develop this rash. Some children may start with early signs of acne even at such a young age, but your son's rash does not fit this diagnosis.I presume that you have not been applying Vaseline to his face lately because this can cause a pimple-like rash similar to the one you mention here.A heat rash or an allergic rash or reactions to washing powder or soap and even scabies are other possible causes. It would be best to ask a dermatologist for an opinion as you say that your son's rash is worsening by the day.
