Q.

Rash under chin

My 6 month old granddaugher has a red rash from under her mouth to under her chin and because she is constantly drooling, probably due to her teething, the area remains wet and is looking very inflamed and is probably sore as it also affects her sleeping. Vaseline, baby powder, zinc cream, etc does not help . Please advise if Bactroban ointment can be used or alternatively which cream can be used. She also sucks a dummy. Many thanks, Antoinette

This rash is due to the dribbling and often becomes infected with candida.Keep your baby granddaughter's neck as dry as possible. Do not leave wet bibs in contact with her neck. Try Nystatin cream applied twice daily to see if this will clear her rash.
