Rash on stomach

Hi Professor,

My 3 year old son has a rash on his stomach, just below his navel. I think it is from his nappy, which he wears at night only. He does not, however, have this rash anywhere else where his nappy touches.

I have been smearing Mepyrimal Cream for five days now, but don''t seem to see an improvement. The rash is raised, red blotches, that is itchy.

Is there something else that I can use?

It is always difficult to decide about the cause of a rash without being able to see your son. His rash does sound like an allergic rash probably one called urticaria. Sometimes this rash is known as hives. He is probably allergic to somehing in the waistband of his nappy such as the plastic or possibly latex if there is elastic there.Change the brand of his nappy. Apply a thin layer of Mylocort Cream twice daily to the rash. If the rash has not disappeared by 5 days please write to me again.
