Q.

Rash around mouth

My 4 year old daughter has started with ' winter lips" , which is red and tender red lips - this condition seems to have spread right around her mouth to her chin and nose area. There also seems to be a mild rash around her bikini area (but not inside the vagina). She only moans about her mouth being sore and cannot eat properly. I have been treating these symptoms with vaseline since Sunday. Today is Tuesday and there is no relief yet. Should I get her to a doctor? or should I continue with the vaseline?

I am concerned about the rash which you describe here. It is possible that it may be due to Scarlet fever or to a condition called Kawasaki's disease. Please take her to be seen by a paediatrician ASAP.
