Q.

Rash all over the body

Hi Doc, just need your advise and opinion on this one

My baby is 20 months and having rash all over her body, its a thin one and itching cause she'  scratching herself all the time. started on Friday and got worse on Sat night, i took her to the GP on Sun. The doc said its Meascles but i thought it Ezema as she always suffers from it since she was a baby and i always use advantan Fatty Ointment, Lipo-cream and EpiMax for moisturising and bathing. Doc prescribed her Mylocort, Allecet and Stil Payne medication and she said the baby should be fine in 3 to 4 days but i see she' s not getting better or is it me panicking?

Yesterday she was restless and scratching herself all night, i wonder if this medication is the relevant one or is it taking long to heal her.

Any advise will be appreciated, Thanx!

It is difficult to be sure about a rash without being able to see your little girl. From your description the rash sounds like an allergic rash.It may be a form of eczema but it has not got better on the usual treatment for eczema. You were using a very strong ointment [Advantan Fatty] to treat her originally and that did not help. Your daughter needs to be seen by a paediatric allergist to find out what she is allergic to and to treat her correctly. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
