Dear doc,
My baby has had from birth a rash on his cheeks,I guessed that it was baby acne, but last week I noticed, at 8 weeks, his shooulders, back and front (chest and stomach) has spots now too (nothing on arms and legs). Also the spots on his face got worse. The rash is pink then turns to dry white spots. It''s also under his chin. The rash also seems to be worse on whatever cheek he sleeps on, seems to be the warmth. He is on Isomil and I wash all the baby clothes, blankets ect in baby detergent. I had eczema as a baby and really hope my son doesn''t experience the same fate!

This does not sound like eczema but is probably a condition called seborrhoeic dermatitis. Wash your baby's scalp regularly with a baby shampoo such as Elizabeth Anne. Apply a very mild cortisone cream such as Mylocort once daily to the worst parts of the rash until it clears up. This rash should clear up by itself after the age of 6 months. Do not use the Mylocort for more than 5 days at a time.If your baby's rash does not clear up with this treatment please ask your paediatrician to see him.
