Q.

Rash

Hi Doctor,

My maid' s 8 year old daughter has a rash on her legs. She had the same thing last year and the clinic said it was an allergy to the washing powder, which has since been changed. They prescribed Calamine Lotion.

Now it has re-occurred at roughly the same time of year. It is raised bumps that are itchy, almost like goose bumps. Is there anything else that can be used?

Thank you for your time.

This sounds like a skin rash called papular urticaria which is an allergic reactiion to insect bites, usually to flea bites. Apply calamine lotion to the rash and see if this helps. If the rash worsens or becomes more itchy it would be best to ask your doctor to see her.
