I have a 9 year old daughter, who is always blinking. what causes this? It' s like she is always scared. I' ve already taken her to a GP who reffered me to an optometrist , the optometrist said there is nothing wrong with her eyes. she has been like this ever since she was young.

This is usually due to a habit if no cause is found. It is referred to as a habit tic. Once started it is very difficult to break this habit tic. It is best to do your utmost not to take any notice of this tic even though it does worry you. No one else in the family must mention this tic in your daughter's presence. This is particularly important at school and with grandparents and friends and family. Often once no one seems to notice the habit it goes away by itself.
