Hi Doctor, I have a few questions. My son is 4 months old, he will only sleep at night if i give him probiflora pead in his last feed and he drinks most of it, why is this? He has had both barium scan (mild reflux) and milk scan (no reflux). Who do we trust? I have been giving him cereal and some grains (rice and pasta), his wet burps seemed better and his naps were much better, but he had severe stomach cramps and lots of wind so i stopped. Now the naps are off again and gettin wet burps and his pillow is always wet. Please advice.

From your description it seems that your baby is having reflux as he has the symptoms af reflux including the discomfort caused by the acid reflux.A milk scan is more accurate than a barium meal in diagnosing reflux and it is odd that your baby's test was negative and the barium scan only slightly positive. It would be best to give him a medicine such as Losec to reduce his stomach acid.Start off very slowly with his solids giving him only a rice cereal at first and then gradually introducing a fruit and then a vegetable. He may also benefit from changing to an anti-reflux formula such as Novalac AR.
