Q.

Puffy Eye

Hello Professor,

Today my 9 month old woke up with a puffy right eye that is oozing slightly. He also has a runny nose and a cough. I at first thought it was an allergy as the nose mucous is clear, he rubs his nose and does not sneeze a lot. Does the puffy eye change the diagnosis? Perhaps to a cold? I am confused now as to whether he has a cold or an allergy. At present I am giving him 2.5ml Allecet as per a previous post. This is the 4th day of this medicine.

Thank you.

Your baby has an eye infection. This is not due to an allergy.Clean his eye at least twice a day with a very dilute salt solution [a quarter teaspoonful of salt in a cup of boiled and cooled water]
