Q.

Prevenar

Hi doc,
Is this vaccination part of the normal cycle of vaccinations our children go thro, My daughter is 16 months old and has had all her vacs except the 15month MMR one as she was sick at the time. Does she have to be 100% well to have the MMR and does the Prevenar prevent bronchial pneumonia?

Prevenar is part of the childhood immunisation schedule and is given at 2, 3 and 4 months. Prevenar may not prevent all kinds of pneumonia especially those kinds which are caused by virus infections. She should be well at the time that she is given the MMR vaccination.
