One of the dangers of prematurity is that the baby's lungs will not be fully developed. This has happened with your new grandchild. The most common condtion that occurs is known as 'hyaline membrane disease'. Fortunately excellent treatment is available for this condition and the little baby should make a full recovery. With modern treatment there are few,if any, problems later on in the child's life. I hope that your granddaughter will soon be home with her family.

My grandchild was born at 6 months prematurely. He spent 3 months in intensive care. He is currently 10 months old and is still unable to sit or to roll side by side. He is also going squint in his left eye at times. He also has a twitch in his left leg. Please could you assist.
