Q.

Prelone

My 3 yr old son has to be on prelone for 5 days for chest infection. Everytime i give him his 5ml he sneezes immediately, its almost too quick a sneeze to be an allergic reaction to the prelone as its hardly entered his body when he sneezes, even he has noticed that this particular meds makes me sneeze mom. What could it be? the smell? is it safe as i believe children''s bodies have a clever way of telling them to stay away from an offender!

Pls help with this interesting one...

This is indeed an interesting question. It is possible that this is simply a reflex sneeze and not an allergy.Prelone has a rather bitter taste and it may be this that is triggering his reflex sneezing. It is also possible that he is reacting to a preservative in the Prelone syrup as some children are sensitive to sodium benzoate which is commonly used as a preservative in children's liquid medicines.
