Post Nasal Drip

Hi, My 20 month old daught had been on differnt sets of anti-biotics. Last week tuesday she finished her latest antibiotic- oryloxdosage was: 2.5 ml, twice a day. On sunday I early monrninng I noticed that her nose had a bit of something (mucus) from the sound of it and she starting with a mild cough again ( phlemy/ wet). I think its post naasl drip. I have been giving her deselex, bissolvon and since May. Previously I used to give her a daily dose of Viral guard some one suggested that I change to something else as the body might be used to it,since this week, I am using viral choice + vidalyn. At the pharmacy they recommended merck feb syrup, its supposed to help clear up the sinus area. We use the humidifier everyday. I am at a loss now, I don''t know what to do as she keeps on having these re-occuring coughs, constant ENT infections. I am worried that she always on anti-biotic. She does not go to creche.

I agree with you that your daughter's blocked nose and cough strongly suggest that she has a post nasal drip problem. She has had many antibiotics and has not improved. It is possible that your daughter has enlarged and infected adenoids. It would be best to take her to see an ENT specialist for an opinion. In the meantime try to keep her nose as clear as possible by using a saline nose spray such as Sterimar at least twice a day.
