post 885 unexplained rash

Hi Paed,

Thanks 4 information on Roseola and the rash. I was wondering if it could be that but my 7.5 month old only developed the spots on her face and one hand and nothing really on her body so was not sure.

I also wonder then did the viral infection cause her ear infection? as her ears were very red and so was prescribed antibiotics last Monday, and on Friday 1 was oozing my GP said could be a perforated ear drum but couldn''t really see because of all the gunk, or could the ear infection just be a co - incidence as she has had a bit of a cough and cold previously? Thanks again for all your help, have a great day!

You are welcome. It is most likely that your baby's red eardrums were just part of the Roseola. Your baby had a high fever and may simply have had some soft wax in her ear canals.
