post 507 stomach bug

Hi doc. Me again. After my last post - I have been giving my son frequent sips of water and his hydration is looking much better. He has altogether stopped with diahoreaa and mostly stopped vomitting. He only vomiited twice in the last 24 hours. He also no longer has any fever. I am still concerned that he is so tired. He is really just sleeping all the time and if he is not sleeping, he is lying down. I do of course expect him to feel weak after a tummy bug, but it seems like more than that - almost like there is another illness ad the vomitting and diahoreaa, clouded it. He says he just does not feel very good, but does not seem to have specific pain. Hehas just had something to drink and two bites of toast, so I will see if it causes stomach pain or vomitting again. His illness started on Thursday morning and as I write this it is early Saturday morning. Mostly what I am concerned about is the extreme tiredness, He has slept for most of Thru-sat. I can wake him up, and he is fully alert when woken, but will go straight back to sleep. He is 5 and a half.

I am also concerned about your son being so tired and especially as he has also vomited twice in the past 24 hours. As these may be symptoms of meningitis it would be best to take him to an emergency paediatric unit to be examined.
