Polio and Measels Vaccination

Hi Doc
My 4 yr old son his measels and polio vaccination on Friday and since then his appetite has deteriated, runny nose, fever, coughing and complains of tummy ache. Could these be the side effects and if so what can I do in the interim?????

Please advice, I feel like I am loosing my jolly son.

It is difficult to be sure about the cause of your son's symptoms without being able to see him. It is possible that he has had a reaction to his recent vaccinations but this does not usually last so long. It is more likely that he has flu. All you need to do is to give him Panado or Calpol syrup for his fever and discomfort and he should drink as much fluid as he will take especially water.

Yes, these are the side effects of the measels vaccine. Should only last for 2-3 days. Because it is a live vaccine. Just give lots of hugs and some panado 3 times a day till he feels better.
