Please advice doc

Hi Doc
My son is now 22months. He was born with a small hole on his earlobe, the bottom part and a small hole on his cheek. The hole on his cheek is very small and you can hardly see it.

The one on his ear is worrying me. Sometimes there is a white discharge/puss coming out of the hole, which is sometimes smelly. At times he also rubs/scratch the earlobe. I asked his paed to check it but he was not concerned. Even the other GP' s who I' ve asked are not concerned.

What do you think of it as the smelly part is what concerns me most and don' t want him to be called stinky when he goes to school.

You are right to be concerned about the smelly discharge from the small hole in your son's ear lobe. This is called a 'preauricular sinus' and it has obviously become infected. The usual policy is to remove these small sinuses when they become infected, it is a very minor operation. Please take him to be seen by an ENT specialist.
