Q.

Phelgmy chest

HI Doc,
My son (2.5yrs) has finished antibiotics for a cough and phlegmy chest. He stopped coughing very quickly after taking the antibiotics, but the phlegmy chest persists. He has not had fever, and is fine at night. I have tried mucospect, bronchoped and homemade honey and ginger mix, but nothing has helped. Should I take him to his paed or can you suggest something that will help? I am scared this may turn into an infection. he does not have ear-infection or any other problems.
Many thanks.

Your son appears to be largely over his present illness. The remaining mucous will clear by itself. Mucospect is a good medicine to help to clear the mucous more rapidly.
