Q.

Petit mal

Dear Prof
My one year old daugter has been diagnosed with petit mal attacks. She is currently on treatment. Her MRI and EEG were normal. She has no other problem at all, expect that seh was born at 34 weeks. Is there a good chance that she will outgrow this?

The preferred name for petit mal these days is 'absence seizures' The treatment is very effective and many children outgrow the tendency to develop absence seizures when they are in their teens.
