Q.

Persistent Cough

My 6 month old son has just completed his course of Adco Amoxycillin for a cold and nasty cough. I''m concerned as he still has a very loose cough which hasnt seemed to improved with the meds - is this normal for him to still be coughing so much after his antibiotics or should i take him back to the doc for another checkup?

Your baby probably has a viral infection of his chest known as 'bronchiolitis'. This is usually caused by RS virus infection. Being a virus infection,an antibiotic willl not help at all.Seeing as your baby is still coughing a lot,it would definitely be best if he is seen again by the paediatrician-especially with the weekend coming up soon.
