persistant cough

Hi Doc,
My son is really battling with a persistant wet cough, esp in the evenings, all through the night &  early morning. I can hear a clogging sound but since he only 2 he cant really cough it out. The gp keeps on giving hin different antibiotics &  say that I must consider giving him a injection that will prevent this infection for about 5 yeras??? I have been also told that due to a post-nasel drip tha is not getting dried, his chest in still infected. Please advise me on what to do &  I really worried &  we are both having endless sleepless nights.

With appreciation!
Miss Paul

What is needed here is a proper diagnosis which you do not have for your son's chest illness. He may have asthma but it is difficult to say with certainty without being able to see him. I would like your son to be seen by a paediatrician.Do not leave the paediatrician's rooms without having a clear diagnosis and the correct treatment for his illness.
